I need to get out of the house more. Main reason I leave my house: School. I use to go shopping, until Sarah A- lost her job, so less money for gas. Now B- she lost her license after getting in another accident.

Yes, sadly, I am 17, can't drive. Haven't learned. Just recently sent in the form for winter driving lessons. (according to a lot of peeps I know, it's easier to learn to drive in winter here) Plus, even if I could drive, I don't have my own car. When I can drive I have to get a job, so I can get money for a car.

The best way I'll probably get a car, is from my dad. My step-mom has a car, but because of the surgery she's had on her back and neck, she can't drive anymore. So, I might be able to get the car from them.

And why am I rambling to you guys? You don't really care how or when I get a car.

lol the only daring thing about Hookah is that if someone you don't know smokes it too, you could get mouth herpes or mono or something lol.

And I got my liscence when I was 18. I took drivers ed when I was 16, but I never went in to get my liscence because I felt that I didn't need it. Now I have it, but I still don't need it because I have no car lol. And I'm not getting one any time soon!

A review published in the medical journal Pediatrics found that the concentration of cancer-causing and addictive substances in water-pipes may be equal to those found in cigarettes, with the heat involved being sufficient to generate carcinogenic nitrosamines, and the smoldering charcoal adding some carcinogenic hydrocarbons as well as heavy metals to the smoke.[6] Similarly, a study in the November 2005 issue of the Journal of Periodontology found that the impact of water pipe smoking is equivalent in magnitude to that of cigarette smoking.[7] Ironically, use of the hookah may increase the smoker's toxic exposure, in that studies have shown that the typical hookah smoker spends more time per smoking session than do other smokers, presumably because the smoke is less immediately harsh or irritating. Thomas Eissenberg, a professor of psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University co-authored a hookah study which found that a session of hookah smoking which lasts about 45 minutes, delivers 36 times more tar, 15 times more carbon monoxide and 70% more nicotine than a single cigarette.[citation needed] Generally, a cigarette will last no more than 5 minutes, which makes approximatively 9 cigarettes in order to compare to the 45 minutes hookah session. A study in the Journal of Periodontology found that hookah smokers were five times more likely than non-smokers to have signs of gum disease.[citation needed] This is of concern to doctors in North America, as 86% of colleges and universities have at least one hookah lounge within close proximity. A study of Egyptian couples found an association between water-pipe smoking and infertility. Other researchers have raised objections to the methods used in these studies, most notably those raised by researcher Kamal Chaouachi.[8] Hookah advocates counter that existing studies have failed to take into account past tobacco or other drug use, and that it is unclear what ill-effects were directly related to hookah smoking, as opposed to other causes, including past cigarette smoking.[citation needed]

The quick-lighting charcoal used by many hookah smokers may be an additional hazard for hookah smokers, because it produces greater levels of carbon monoxide and other dangerous substances than standard charcoal.[citation needed] The quick-lighting charcoal is produced by mixing powdered charcoal with various chemicals such as potassium nitrate, that allow it to be quickly and easily ignited

Well, the info that you posted isn't completely accurate (because there is nothing officially proven and almost all information on Hookah is biased to be pro or con) so I don't take it that seriously lol. It talks about 45 minute sessions, but you don't sit there smoking it for 45 minutes straight. I sat through a three hour session and had maybe 10 puffs lasting about 15 seconds each. that equals 150 seconds all together which is about 2 and a half minutes total of smoking (less time than it takes to smoke a cigarette.) The stuff I inhale is MUCH lighter than cigarettes and you don't smoke hookah everyday. You smoke it only once in a while. It's only if you smoke it continuously that it gets bad for you. Obviously it's not good for you, but neither is alcohol consumption and everyone's FINE with drinking. I don't drink much, only once in a while so I'm actually a lot healthier than most people my age even if I participate in the water pipe festivities once in a while. Don't worry, I'm not killing myself.
